Sport Works ‘Sport Works’: is an employability based programme targeted at potential participants sometimes defined as ‘hard to reach’ within society. ‘Sport Works’ re-engages learners and provides them with the skills, qualifications and experience to enter employment, enterprise activity or further learning. Sport Works is supported by the European Social Fund.
Game On Girl's Football The Game On Girl's project aims to engage girls aged 7-16 in the sport, develop their skills and confidence and signpost them into club football. Our annual Girls Cup tournament is a highlight in the calendar.
Street Leagues Game On have been running regular street leagues for teenagers in Wales for several years. The activities are designed to engage young people, offer opportunities to exercise, socialise in a supervised environment, volunteer, earn qualifications and qualify for regional and national tournaments. Whilst these sessions are being delivered, we are also diverting young people from anti-social behaviour, encouraging active citizenship and promoting community cohesion.
Game On Gear With the support of the Coalfields Regeneration Trust , we have set up the 'Game On Gear' grant fund. This initiative aims to support grassroots sports clubs increase participation, particularly 13 - 19 age groups, through the supply of sports kits. Anyone interested in applying on behalf of their club can either download the Guidance Notes & Application Form or email email@example.com Clubs must be located in a former coalfields ward. Please note, funds are limited.
Sport Leaders Game On Wales is a Sports Leaders UK quality assessed Centre. Our tutors deliver the Level 1 or Level 2 Community Sports Leaders qualification. Sports Leaders is a nationally recognised qualification that equips people with leadership skills for life – a strong strategic fit to Game On and The Coalfields Regeneration Trust’s priorities.
Tournaments Our tournaments offer participants the chance to compete against their peers from other communities. We run regional and national tournaments like the St David's Cup and Christmas Cup, where teams not only compete for silverware, but also the chance to represent their country!
The Coalfields Regenerations Trust's Home Internationals With our sister organisations in England and Scotland, we run an annual Home International event, where Wales take on their peers from former English and Scottish mining communities. This year was the 11th time the event was held, Game On Wales hosted the tournament in Wrexham and saw Scotland claim the title for the second time!
Walking Football Walking Football is a slower paced version of the beautiful game with the 50+ age group in mind. Current sessions, delivered in association with Sport RCT: Mondays: 6-7pm. Abercwmboi RFC Tuesdays: 10.30 - 11.30am. Abercynon Sport Centre. Wednesdays: 10.30am - 12. Hawthorn Sports Centre. Wednesdays (from 27/9/17): 6 - 7pm. Ton & Gelli BGC Fridays (from 29/9/17): 6-7pm. Cambrian 3G, Clydach Vale No pre-registration required. Just turn up and play.
Fundraising Support Game On are happy to provide schools and community organisations with support and advice on fundraising. Our provision can either run alongside other activities or act as a stand-alone fundraiser.
